Dr. Buchbinder earned his bachelor degree in 1965 from Franklin & Marshall College. He then attended Downstate Medical College, Brooklyn, New York, where he received his medical degree in 1969. After receiving his degree, Dr. Buchbinder completed his surgical internship at Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn, New York, in 1970. He went on to the Long Island Jewish Medical Center for the rest of his postgraduate training. Dr. Buchbinder served his surgical residency from 1970 to 1971 and his urological residency from 1971 to 1973. He was chief resident in urology from 1973 to 1974. From 1971 to 1977 Dr. Buchbinder served with the U.S. Army Reserves as a captain.
Dr. Buchbinder is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
Dr. Buchbinder is affiliated with many area hospitals and is currently on staff at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, the North Shore University Hospital, and St. Francis Hospital. Dr. Buchbinder is also an assistant professor of clinical urology at the Albert Einstein Medical College.
Dr. Buchbinder has been involved with many research studies in urology and has published numerous articles in journals like the Journal of Urology. He is also very active in the community and has been a presenter for the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and the Queens Hospital Center.
Dr. Buchbinder is a member of the New York State Medical Society, the Nassau County Medical society, and the American Urological Association. He is on the Board of Directors for the Brooklyn – Long Island Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, and is also on the Executive Committee for the Long Island Jewish Staff Society.
